Ideas are thoughts that we create to bridge the gap between concepts that may be abstract principles and reality.  Ideas are found throughout history and literature.  “We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal…” is an idea.  “Government of the people by the people for the people” is a powerful idea.  “I have a dream that my children one day will be judged by the content of the character rather than the color of their skin” is another idea.

David asked for ideas when laying out a battle plan to take Jerusalem from the Jebusites.  Jonathan overcame the Philistines by deciding to take the battle to them instead of waiting for their attack.  Nehemiah re-built Jerusalem’s walls in a mere 52 days based on an idea that God had provided the way home for captives and that He would provide a way for the walls to be rebuilt.

There is a need for fresh ideas in our Church today.  Our world is changing and we are desperately in need of new ideas of how to reach billions of people on this planet.   Ideas are not a substitute for the Holy Spirit.  We believe that God has given us a work to do and the methods that we must employ must embody the principles of Christ’s method.  James White harnessed the power of the printing press technology in his day we need to harness tools and technology that is available to us today to broaden the influence and reach of our message.

Ideas that we are looking for will have the following characteristics:

a.      Be supportive of the message and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church

b.      Ministry oriented. Exceptions: Non-profit business models will be accepted

c.      We are wanting a fresh look at ministry models, delivery methods etc.

d.      Don’t reinvent the wheel. There are many things that work well in our Church.

e.      Be bold.  This is a place to dream big.  Don’t be constrained by lack of funds etc.

f.       Be concise.

g.      Don't exclude people.

h.      Be replicable.

We are looking for ideas large or small that you feel are important.  Please take a look at the ideas posted and if you have anything to add or comment on please do.  Take a look at the format that we are currently using and submit your ideas in the same format to ease our time sorting through and reading your ideas.  If we feel a certain idea is worth promoting and supporting we will contact you directly and get more details.  We might even provide initial funding to get your idea into reality.
